Jason Ager is getting back to his roots. Influenced by outlaw and traditional country music, Jason has always had a penchant for storytelling and imagery in his songwriting. Stripped down and gritty, his new project features Philadelphia folk scene veterans Bob Tangrea on fiddle and mandolin and Tom Tusler on upright bass and backing vocals. These new songs come from an intimate place of truth and deal with fatherhood, nostalgia and aspiration, highlighting the struggles inherent in each of those notions. “Bronco Buster” examines the question of settling down for all the right reasons; Jason explores some or the darker sides of parenting in “Raising Cain”; and “Back of My Hand” reflects on finding home again, or at least attempting to.
